When did you guys start getting into cooking?
We started experimenting with different things about seven years ago.
There were some mishaps (mashed potatoes that tasted like Play-Doh), but after a while our skills
developed to the point where we were cooking for dinner parties our parents had. Eventually,
a guest at one of those parties asked if we were interested in catering an engagement party she was hosting.
We said yes and WA Catering began in 2003. Later, The Boston Globe wrote an article about the company.

articles various publications have written about WA Catering.
What are your favorite dishes to prepare?
Probably the question we are most frequently asked.
We don't have one favorite dish to prepare, but some of our menu items that came to
us through a random burst of inspiration, like the Scallop Tower or the
Filet Mignon, are particularly fun to make,
as we are tweaking them every time we make them. The crab cakes are the most frequently ordered item on our menu.
But we love to cook everything!
Who works for you?
We do all of the business management and cooking of WA Catering.
We employ classmates of ours to serve and do prep-work in the kitchen. We have received numerous
compliments as to the professionalism of our staff, a professionalism created by much experience
working for WA Catering, more experience than many adult servers have in the catering field. Also,
WA Catering's Pastry Chef, Lydia Biloskirka-Conley, is a classmate of ours and has a wide repertoire showcased
in the Dessert Menu. No adults are involved in the
operation whatsoever.
Do you guys have a degree in cooking?
No, but we have interned in several restaurants, including Upstairs on the Square in
Cambridge, MA, and the Webster House
in Kansas City. We have also worked with other professional caterers. In terms of classes,
we have taken many adult recreational cooking series at
The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, learning much about the intricacies of French and Italian cuisine.
We have also studied at Whole Foods Market, and other locations in the Boston Area. We have also done cooking
classes in Japan, Italy, Morocco and elsewhere which have allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of
the cuisines in those areas.
Does WA Catering support any charitable causes?
Of course! One of WA Catering's main goals is to help out its local community.
We have donated numerous dinners to benefit live auctions to the Newton and Belmont Public Schools,
and have also donated dinner parties to The Second Step, an organization located
in the Boston area providing transitional support and programs for survivors of domestic violence.
How do two teenagers find the time to own and run a professional catering business?
One of the biggest obstacles to the scale of WA Catering's business market is school.
Working around school, homework, and extracurricular activities, we manage our time effectively to do events when
we can.Unfortunately, WA Catering can only cater on the weekends,
unless you would like to explain to our teachers why we were absent from school.
Are there any foods you don't like to eat?
Alex doesn't like cheese, which comes as a surprise to most people who ask. However, Will is a cheese fanatic and easily compensates for Alex's dislike. Will does not like chocolate.
